Welcome To Mrs. California International

It’s more than a crown...It’s a commitment.

The International System has established itself as an organization with integrity, high ethical standards and consistent application of its rules and regulations. It is our goal to provide ladies everywhere the opportunity to compete in a pageant system that maintains the highest of moral values.

We believe that we owe consistent application of our rules and regulations to all of our past, present or future contestants and directors. We are firmly committed to applying these standards fairly, uniformly and consistently.

Mrs. California International 2014

Christy Van Der Westhuizen

Christy Van Der Westhuizen is married to Renier, whom she met on the “Love Boat” in the middle of that Atlantic Ocean. Christy was an assistant cruise director/social host and Renier was a photographer for the ms Maasdam, a Holland America Line cruise ship. Christy is a graduate of Chapman University with a degree in broadcast journalism and public relations. She found her true calling when she entered the senior living realm and found that her true passion is creating compassionate care for seniors. Christy is the marketing director for Mission Hills at Rancho Mirage, a senior living community that specializes in assisted living and Alzheimer’s/dementia care. She is an active committee member of the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as proud board member of ACT I (Aging Community Team), which serves seniors in the local area of Coachella Valley.

As Mrs. California International 2014, Christy will continue to honor her late Grandma Jean by bringing the Alzheimer's Association to national and international recognition. She will continue to facilitate the organization’s largest fundraising events, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which aids in creating awareness, funds and support for those facing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Christy is a resident of Palm Desert, California, and enjoys spending as much time in the sunshine as she possibly can. She is the ultimate adventurer and enjoys doing once in a lifetime activities, such as trapeze classes, mud runs and “dress in costume” runs. Together, she and her husband, Renier, have three cocker spaniels and love going to dog parks and dog beaches with them!
